AC Shadows Introduces Surprising AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Uncovered
According to the official announcement, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where rumors of banned ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.
The questline concentrates on "strange tests and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Changes
The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Features
Players who finish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Content
This release also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
