Fall Classic Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total 51 million viewers across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball announced this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-game World Series averaged 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete American average reached 16.1M. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
