Lando Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
