Based on figures from Israel, no fewer than 98 Palestinians have perished while in custody since October 2023. A human rights group operating from Israel has indicated that the actual number is likely significantly higher, because of many of missing people from Gaza.

Non-Combatant Fatalities

Classified Israeli data suggests that the vast majority of incarcerated Palestinians from Gaza who lost their lives in prison were non-combatants, per a related inquiry.

By May of this year, a military intelligence database monitoring all militants in Gaza, a roster of over 47,000 identified persons, listed only 21 casualties in custody. By that point, 65 Palestinians from Gaza had died in prison.

High-Profile Cases
