Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard court since that period of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
